From John C. Maxwell’s powerful book, The 15 Invaluable Laws of Growth, The Law of Modeling says that we can effectively grow through the mentorship of others who have either done what we want to do or can otherwise guide us toward our greater expansion and growth.
Where do we find our mentor or mentors? John says that “most people who decide to grow personally find their first mentors in the pages of books.” He adds, “that is a great place to start. For that matter, it’s a great place to continue. I am still learning from dozens of people every year that I will never meet. But at some point, you must find personal models too. If you follow only yourself, you will find yourself going in circles.”
John adds some key bullet points on this subject of mentors.
1. A Good Mentor Is a Worthy Example.
2. A Good Mentor Is Available.
3. A Good Mentor Has Proven Experience.
4. A Good Mentor Possesses Wisdom.
5. A Good Mentor Provides Friendship and Support.
6. A Good Mentor Is a Coach Who Makes a Difference in People’s Lives.
In summary, John adds this: “No matter who you are, what you have accomplished, how low or how high your life has taken you, you can benefit from having a mentor.”
Hello. I’m Bart Nollenberger and one of my most profound mentors is and has been John C. Maxwell and others in the John Maxwell Team. This is why I chose to become an Executive Director as part of The John Maxwell Team. I have the privilege of offering my services as a mentor to many and one of the easiest ways this is done is through MasterMind Groups.
I do many MasterMind Group sessions on The 15 Invaluable Laws of Growth. See more at the link below and get in touch with me regarding the next session, or any other of the many John Maxwell Team coaching and mentoring that I offer.
