Adam Marburger: Moments That Change Us For Good

Adam Marburger is the CEO of Ascent Dealer Services and owner of Alton Family Martial Arts & Fitness in the Greater St. Louis area. His recently released book, "You're the F*cking Problem" explores how we can get out of our own way to create the life and business of our dreams.

What we discuss in this episode:

  • Adam shares that he is a giant work in progress. "I'm a God-loving and God-fearing, man. I'm a father to three incredible, incredible little girls. Um, I'm kind of a psychopath for business. Um, I'm a junkie for personal development, um, and I'm a work in progress every single day. I just try to get a little bit better knowing that I'm extremely flawed. Um, I'm patient with myself now a little more than I used to be, and I'm extremely self-aware and being self-aware has allowed me to do more than I've ever done in my life. So that's kind of in a nutshell who I am and, and, and who, what I like to do."

  • Adam shares his backstory of living with a father who had a drinking problem, and a mother who "covered it up with perfume." He recalls a specific experience where he decided that he didn't want to be anything like his father and that someday he would make something of himself.

  • There are many defining moments that help shape who we are today. Those experiences, either good or bad, have a unique way of shaping and refining us. For Adam, it was when his daughter was born. "Something kind of snapped inside of me. God blessed me with this little girl. I have a lot of responsibility — I have to make some changes including some of the things I was doing and some of the people I was hanging out with."
