Mike Anderson: Overcoming Adversity

Mike Anderson is the CEO and partner at the Rikess Group, a successful automotive consulting firm, and joins Keep The Change to share his story of learning to overcome adversity at an early age. Each of us experiences hardship in life, but learning to overcome our challenges can help make us stronger.

What we discuss in this episode about overcoming adversity in life:

Mike recounts the story about his mother picking him up from school and leaving their father. He lived with his mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother until he was 17 years old. Extreme poverty and doing what he could to make ends meet to help the family helped provide him with perspective about adversity and what it means to overcome it.

"By the time I was old enough to leave that environment, adversity didn't seem like it was in my vocabulary. We were pretty well impoverished... I had to share a room with my mother until I was 17."
